    Edward J Tennis: If I have an non-owner insurance policy that covers me while driving my employer’s vehicle for work and I get into an at fault accident while on duty and my non-owner policy does cover the cost of the cost of the accident: IS MY EMPLOYER’S AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE FOR THAT VEHICLE AFFECTED?

    Usually you’d have to report the accident to your insurance company and they’d let you know how much they are willing to cover. After that, your employer usually has to cover the rest. This varies case-by-case, though. You might want to consult with a lawyer first to see what your options are (usually the first consult is free).

    Well I have been working remotely for about a year now and it seems like this is something they want to implement on a more permanent basis. It makes sense, the company saves money while still getting the same productivity. I know they are paying people less starting now using the reasoning of not commuting and being able to stay home so we are saving money. It’s an interesting tactic, but so far it seems my stay at home job is here to stay.

    I think the answer is yes, and no, Dylan. Time you have already earned at the old rate is worth the dollar amount at that old rate. Meanwhile, time earned at the new rate is worth the dollar amount of the new rate. I’m pretty sure an employer cannot devalue the time already earned by applying the new pay rate. That would be wrong. So, old time should be paid at the old rate, and any accrued time earned after the pay rate change would be subject to the new rate. A good idea would be to take a snapshot of your existing saved hours before the pay cut kicks in. Those should be paid out at the old rate. Knowing how many hours you had will make it easy to ask about if and when the time comes.

    When you say “creative swag” what do you mean by that besides the basic type of things that we would give away? Also leaving flyers at business may be a good way to go but since we are in the digital age we had been focusing on that aspect instead.

    I think I may just end up cutting hours instead of cutting wages at least that way it doesn’t seem like I am trying to undercut the employees. I don’t want to bring down morale but sometimes we have to do what we have to do.

    There’s a lot of ways to do that. The most common are probably accruals that either

    1. match the payroll period or
    2. Accrue first of the money or
    3. Accrue annually

    Also, by-hours-worked is gaining popularity since many states now require that method for sick time accrual.

    The first step is to decide and then document exactly how your accrual program works. It’s entirely up to you as long as you don’t have any local laws governing your minimum accruals like they have in New Jersey or California. Then once you’ve got it all written out, the implementation portion is usually easy. Timesheets.com actually has all the aforementioned accrual types, plus a few others, built right into the web site. We use it and it has eliminated manual calculations, manual balance tracking and lots of other manual stuff. Definitely worth looking into.

    They make their money off people who don’t know any better. There’s no such thing as someone with a repository or library of ready to go web traffic to sell. People look for stuff when they need it. They aren’t sitting on a shelf waiting for the command to buy, no matter how much money you pay for the service.

    This is a lot of great information. So it seems like facebook is the go to place when it comes to social media marketing then?

    You can sometimes get nice perks from local banks… I’ve heard of people getting tickets to games, junkets and other stuff from local banks that want to woo customers with business. You definitely can’t get that kind of special stuff from a big bank. Something to think about if you’re moving a 6 figures or more per month.

    I actually do have a good piece of advice for that – do things quickly. Procrastination isn’t just wasting time for this project or that project. It’s wasting a life. Suppose you take 5 days to do a project compared to me and I only take 4. Over the course of a career that spans 40 or more years, I’d accomplish 8-10 years more work than you. What could you do with an extra decade?

    One of the most important things I tell people who ask me for advice is that finishing things quickly is one of the most important things a person can do. There’s an added benefit. When you’re trying to finish things, projects tend to be more timely, and languish less. Many people never finish big self-driven projects because procrastination turns into disinterest. So, do it well, but do it quickly.
