I had an interesting discussion with a group of female business owners the other day and wanted to bring it here. What do people think about internet marketing turning into Text marketing. For example you go to a page sign up then they send you a text with deals or discounts. Do you think this is beneficial to businesses? Do people actually look at those texts and go to the link? What do you think?

Let me be honest with you. I HATE IT! Maybe it’s because I always get them and then turn it off and still keep getting them. I understand to give me tracking updates and stuff like that but some companies abuse their use of the all mighty text advertising to the point where I never put my number anywhere unless I absolutely have to.

I mean it is a good way of keeping in touch with your clients. For marketing purposes it is a hit or miss. As sterling said above, I don’t really like getting random messages all the time. Some people find it annoying to have that much contact, leave it in the email. But on the other hand it does allow some people to get deals they otherwise wouldn’t see.

We utilized it for advertisements and it seemed to work. We found the easy-medium between times to send them out. Doing it everyday could be overwhelming , but once every two weeks keeps us in their mind without feeling like too much.
